HIS GARDEN LIVES ON

MODEST HOME ON HWY. 13 IN WASHBURN...

...WITH A HUGE, FENCED BACK YARD GARDEN...

...GROWING GREAT PUMPKINS...

...RASPBERRY BUSHES, TOMATOES AND SWEET CORN...

...FENCED AND GATED, CHOSEN "YARD OF THE MONTH"
Thursday,  8:00 AM.  46 on the ferry dock, 43 on the back porch.  Wind E, calm with occasional light to moderate gusts.  The sky is clear, the humidity 73%.  The barometer is still rising, now standing at 39.53".  It will be a fantastic Applefest.
Several years ago a man and his wife bought a house in Washburn, and they built a large fenced and gated garden.  They planted raspberries, many kinds of vegetables, corn and row upon row of tomatoes.
Then the husband suddenly died.  The garden stood unattended and forlorn, tomatoes rotting on the ground.  It stayed that way all winter, and the next year and the next.  The house was sold at a sheriff's sale last summer, and the wife moved out.
The house was purchased, the garden cleaned up and replanted; a thing of beauty.
It recently won Washburn's "Garden of the Month"award.
The original owner can rest in peace.
   His  garden lives on.
