ALLISON AND BUDDY LAST SUMMER |
Monday, 8:30 AM. -4 degrees F, wind SW, calm to light. The sky is clear, the humidity is 81% and the barometer is down slightly at 30.28", a virtual repeat of Sunday.
Yesterday being a beautiful day we took a ride out to the dog race start-finish line on hwy. 13 and Echo Valley Road, and caught a few teams as they finished the race. When the race is over there is a lot of work taking care of the dogs and the equipment. All the big racing team vans and trailers had already packed up and left, many if not most yesterday. All in all it was a great race weekend, the temperature cold enough for the dogs, yet warm enough for the spectators.
I am not a great fan of professional football but felt obliged to watch the Super Bowl. Not only was it a boring game, but the ads were so intrusive and meaningless (they want me to buy
what?) it was hard to concentrate on the play action.
As for the half-time entertainment, I would rather have watched clips of old ethnological movies of Figian Island head-hunter dances or something, at least I would have understood the context. I am embarrassed to think that much of the rest of the world was watching. I find it easy to understand the antipathy of conservative societies who think us all to be pagans.
