A DOLLAR TO A DOUGHNUT

THE SIGN SAYS IT ALL

ERICKSON'S ORCHARD STORE...
...FAMOUS FOR ITS APPLE CIDER DOUGHNUTS
Sunday, 8:30 AM.  59 degrees F at the ferry dock, 64 on the back porch.  Wind NE, mostly calm with light gusts.  The sky is clear, the humidity 78%.  The barometer is falling slightly, now at 29.78".
The proximity of the ferry dock thermometer to the lake and the NE wind accounts for the difference in recorded temperatures between the two locations.  Today will be sunny with highs in the low seventies and a chance of a thunderstorm; the balance of the week will have high temperatures in the high sixties and mostly clear or partly cloudy skies.  If spring has finally sprung, can summer be far behind?
Rocky Acres Berry Farm has a sign at its entrance that says it all:  Not Yet.  Strawberries are blooming but it will be another month before local strawberries are ripe.
Erickson's Orchard is famous for its homemade apple cider doughnuts, and we stopped to get some yesterday on the way home from the recycle center.  My father used to say, "I'll bet you a dollar to a doughnut..."
At $4.50 a half dozen the doughnut is closing the gap, but the odds are still in the dollar's favor.  These are the real deal and worth the price, though.
