NOT WITHOUT ONE HELL OF A FIGHT

TIME WE STAND UP AND FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOM
Sunday, 8:00 AM. 63 degrees F, wind WSW, calm with occasional moderate gusts. The sky is overcast,  the humidity 95%, and the barometer is still trending down, now at 29.67".  We had thunderstorms last night, but for all the noise less than .1" of rain was in the gage this morning.  Buddy, like most dogs, doesn't like thunder and came in the bedroom to be with us. But not in the bed, no way! That cell of thunderstorms has blown on out over the lake, but another is heading this way from Duluth.
This being the last day of the Forth of July weekend I though it appropriate to post the lyrics to one of my favorite songs:  it reminds us that America at heart is not about material things, but about the spiritual foundation of all human happiness; freedom.  And as long as the spirit of liberty resides in our hearts, "they can't take that away."  At least not without one hell of a fight.

PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN
         by
Lee Greenwood

If tomorrow all the things were gone
I'd worked for all my life
And I had to start again, with
Just my children and my wife
I'd thank my lucky stars
To be living here today
'Cause the flag still stands for freedom
And they can't take that away

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the ones who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the U.S.A.

From the lakes of Minnesota
To the hills of Tennessee
Across the plains of Texas
From sea to shining to sea
From Detroit down to Houston
And New York to L.A.
Where there's pride in every American heart
And it's time we stand and say

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the ones who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the U.S.A.

And I'm proud to be an American
Where at least I know I'm free
And I won't forget the ones who died
Who gave that right to me
And I'd gladly stand up next to you
And defend her still today
'Cause there ain't no doubt I love this land
God bless the U.S.A.
