SOME SIGNS OF FALL COLOR

PAPER BIRCH AND RED MAPLE COLORING UP AT THE BEACH
Monday, 8:30 AM.  Wind SW, light with occasional moderate gusts.  The sky is partly cloudy and the humidity is 85%.  The barometer is continuing a long, slow slide and now stands at 29.93".  We are due for some rain tonight and tomorrow.
Trees in the swamp behind the back dune at the beach are really beginning to look like fall.  The red maples have been progressively turning from dull purple to flaming red for over a week, but the paper birch in the photo is the first I have seen actually turning golden yellow.
Joan has an eye doctor appointment in Duluth today and we will see how the color is progressing along US Hwy. 2.
