HUNGRY DEER LOOKING FOR ANYTHING GREEN ALONG THE ROAD |
Thursday, 8:30 AM. 46 degrees F, wind SW, light with much stronger occasional gusts. the sky is clear with some haze. The humidity has fallen to 53% and the barometer is trending down, know at 29.58". It is another pleasant morning, with melt water filling the gutters and fanning out across the streets, but mostly it is melting slowly enough and evaporating quickly enough that there is no actual flooding in the city.
Andy says he heard returning cranes calling in flight yesterday, and I heard the distinctive trill of a red-winged blackbird off in the distance while walking with Buddy this morning. We have had a veritable invasion of robins.
The deer are out on the roadsides eating any emerging green herbs. They blend in so well with the patchy, snowless, generally brown background that most drivers don't see them at all unless they are moving.
