NATRURE'S PALLETTE

HIGHBUSH CRANBERRY

PAPER BIRCH

RED MAPLE

THE GARDEN, STILL GLORIOUS
Wednesday, 8:30 AM.  41 degrees F at the ferry dock, 36 earlier on the back porch.  Wind NW, calm with moderate gusts.  The humidity is 68% and the barometer is rising, now at 29.88".  We should have some cool but pleasant weather for the next few days.
The colors are still great, some particularly spectacular, such as the highbush cranberry pictured above in a neighbors back yard.  It is in a sunny location and the deer don't frequent it so it is at its very best.  The paper birch are turning to gold, and the red maple in our lake view is as pretty and interesting as the lake.  Many folks would sacrifice the tree for the  lake view, not appreciating that trees, water and sky  are all equal parts of nature's palette, and all are necessary to complete its magnificent panorama.
The garden, now dominated by New England asters, is still glorious.

  1. I will be in Bayfield this weekend visiting relatives. Is your Episcopal church still conducting Sunday services, or has the off season begun?

    1. We do have visiting priests scheduled through the last Sunday in October so we should have a service at 10:00 AM.
