EARLY MORNING GROUND FOG AND MIST |
WELCOME BACK |
WINTER CARDINAL (GOOGLE IMAGE) |
Wednesday, 7:45 AM. -1 degree F, wind NW, gusty, creating some wind chill. The sky is mostly clear but there was considerable ground fog and mist a bit earlier, which has pretty well dissipated. The humidity is 71% and the barometer is rising, currently at 30.06". We had a pleasant walk in the chill morning, and Buddy met several other dogs. Dogs converse with each other in their way while their masters talk.
We have had a blue jay at the suet feeder for several days. He has been very camera shy but finally sat still for his portrait. Blue Jays may stay a northern winter or not. This is the first one I have seen in months. Maybe he has come back north for an early spring, or maybe he is a visitor from further north. Probably the former.
Cardinals have about the same migratory proclivities as the blue jays. I saw a male cardinal three mornings ago but haven't seen him since. He was also pretty shy, and the photo is a Google image.
It will be a while until we see robins returning.
