...THE STRAWBERRIES ARE BIG, JUICY AND SWEET, BETTER THAN POETRY! |
Sunday, 8:00 AM. 59 degrees F at the ferry dock, the same on the back porch. Wind N, very light with slightly stronger gusts. The sky is crystal clear, the humidity 82%. The barometer is rising, now at 29.4" of mercury. The forecast calls for a nice 4th of July holiday, with highs in the mid-sixties and mostly clear skies, then warming some, with chances of thunderstorms Thursday and Friday.
Local strawberries are just in! I stopped yesterday at Rocky Acres Berry Farm on Hwy. J and bought a quart for $4.00. More expensive than the woody imposters from California sold at the IGA, but real strawberries; plump, juicy and sweet.
I tried to find a strawberry poem worthy of the local berries, but gave up. We will have strawberry shortcake with whipped cream, and that will be better than any poem.
