2/05/10 A DUBIOUS IDEA

DECISIONS, DECISIONS
Friday, 9:30 AM. 26 degrees, wind W, calm, but picking up and switching to N. The sky is overcast and the barometer predicts partly cloudy skies.
Late yesterday afternoon I swung by the Ice Road landing where there was a large group of snowmobilers congregated, some talking to whom I assume was one of the wind sled guys. I think they were trying to decide if the ice was safe to go to the Red Cliff Casino. Anyway, one impatient driver revved up and headed north on the ice, and disappeared around the next point of land. I didn’t stick around to see what the rest of them did. But it looked like a dubious undertaking to me.
Andy and Judy are staying with us to watch the dog sled races this weekend, which they have never seen, since they usually don’t come up until maple sugaring in March. We are all pretty good cooks so we will eat well. Andy made pancakes this morning and I cooked bacon from Jim’s Market in Iron River (the best). Joan made a fantastic chicken and sauerkraut dish last evening, and Andy has barbecued ribs ready to cook for tonight.
