9/01/10 FALL IS UPON US

HYDRANGEAS AND ROSES STILL LOOK GOOD
MARE'S TAIL CLOUDS ANNOUNCE AN ADVANCING FRONT
SUNSET CLOUDS
HANDSOME EVEN IN DECLINE

Wednesday, 7:30 AM. 60 degrees, humidity 46%, wind SW, light. A front is moving in and the barometer predicts rain, but not for a while.
The summer is truly waning, leaves are beginning to turn, and tomatoes ripening almost as fast as they can be picked.
The perennial garden is declining, but still looks good, like a handsome older woman. It will have one last fling with the flowering of the Michaelmas daises, the New England Aster, Aster novae-angliae.
Yesterday’s evening clouds were awesome in the light of the setting sun, and this morning mare’s tail clouds announced the advancing front.
