Sunday, 9:30 AM.  64 degrees F at the ferry dock, 63 on the back porch.  Wind SW, calm with light gusts.  The sky is partly cloudy and hazy, the humidity 77%.  Today's high will be in the upper 70's, cooling some tomorrow with mixed skies and chances of rain midweek.
We had a power outage again last night and had to revert to candles and a flashlight.  It lasted 2.5 hours and everything came on again in the middle of the night.
The trailhead for the Brownstone Trail at the City Boat Launch facility which I designed was installed on June 28, 2013. It has had four growing seasons to mature and it is very successful.  The planting was not overly large so it was practical to plant it as seedlings grown by local native plant propagator Becky Brown.
Planted in the very worst of sand, clay and gravel soils, it is a spectacular testament to the resilleance and adaptability of prairie plants when properly selected, planted and initially cared for.  Proper watering was essential to establishment,  as it was planted quite late in the spring.
