SUDDENLY FALL IS HERE

BIG RED MAP;LE ...
...SUMAC LEAFLET...

...VIRGINIA CREEPER

Friday, 8:00 AM.  52 degrees F at the ferry dock, 48 on the back porch.  Wind SW, calm to light with light to moderate gusts.  The sky is clear with some haze, the humidity 86%.  The barometer has begun  to plummet, now at 30.2".  The holiday weekend will be mostly clear with highs around 70, except for a thunderstorm predicted for Saturday.
For me, fall starts on the first of September.  That's when I always see its first signs; red maple leaves tentatively beginning to color up, a few Virginia creeper leaves turning scarlet, a sumac leaflet looking as though it had been dipped into a can of red paint.
We hardly had any summer, and suddenly fall is here.
