VIEW FROM THE PORTSIDE RESTAURANT |
HIGH AND DRY |
Posted Thursday evening, 10:30 PM. No time for a Friday morning posting due to preparations for the Arbor Day tree planting ceremony and set-up for Bayfield in Bloom Kickoff at the Bayfield City Pavilion. It is a calm, seasonally warm, moonless spring evening.
We ate dinner with State Regional Forester Don Kissinger and wife Sue, at the Portside Restaurant in the Port Superior Marina just south of Bayfield. Excellent food, and a wonderful view of water and boats. Don is one of the panel of experts assembled for this morning’s event.
Don’t forget to listen to the Larry Miellor Garden Talk radio show this morning from 11:00 AM to noon, CDT, on Wisconsin Public Radio, broadcasting live from Bayfield (also streaming live on the Internet). It is always interesting and fun.
The city looks very nice for the Kickoff, except that several downtown streets are torn up and traffic flow seems totally unpredictable. Oh, well, it could be worse…snowstorm, tornado, whatever. The weather at least should be good.
There is a new addition to the landlocked fishing fleet in the orchard country. Notice it is safely tied to a piling so it cannot be blown out to sea.
