TH FERRY STILL WEARS SNOW SHOES |
RED MAPLE FLOWERS BUDS LARE SWELLING BUT STILL TIGHT |
Tuesday, 8:30 AM. 37 degrees F, wind N, light with some much stronger gusts. The sky is overcast, the humidity is 83% and the barometer is rising, at 30.17 in. We have had a lot of snow this winter and it is still hanging around. Mike on 8th St. who has lived here all his life says it was the snowiest winter in at least ten years and was like "the old days." I concur. The ferry still looks like it is snowshoeing across the channel to LaPointe.
Spring still is hesitant to arrive. The red maple (Acer rubrum) between 8th an 9th and Manypenny is one of my indicators, and its flowers are still in tight bud.
A neighbor on 9th St, says three robins flew through her yard on Sunday. She didn't say what direction they were headed.
The Senate takes up gun control legislation this week and the UN small arms treaty soon after, both of which I believe are anathema to our freedom and Second Amendment rights. There is still time to call your Senators. In Wisconsin the number for Senator Johnson is (202)224-5323, and for Senator Baldwin (an anti-Second Amendment liberal from Madison) the number is (202)224-5653.
