BUSTED!

BAD GUY

BAD DOG
Thursday,  8:30 AM.  58 degrees F, wind WNW, light.  The sky has become overcast with dark storm clouds and the humidity is still very high at 88%, but the barometer is up at 30.11".  It looks like a changeable day.
The photos tell it all.  The Ode Gang was busted yesterday morning.  No more will they be able to roam their Bayfield neighborhood, disturbing the peace with their early morning rambles, dog running free and master controlling his beast with his whistle.
Yep, yesterday morning the lair of the miscreants was visited by the new Bayfield Chief of Police, who, doing his sworn duty to enforce the city's leash law, informed me, the leader of the gang, that a neighbor, unidentified except as an irate woman, had called the police station and demanded that we be brought to justice.  Gee, we would have appreciated a call by a neighbor instead of a visit by a squad car.
Anyway,  our criminal activities have been "leashed," and hence forth dog and master will have to drive down the road a half mile and take our off-leash walks on an unoccupied country lane.  When we do stay in town we will have to obey the laws of civilization.
Joan says it was probably the whistle that drew the ire of the complainant and that I should continue walking my accomplice, Buddy, on a leash, while blowing my whistle as loudly as I can.  Sounds like a plan, but then we would undoubtedly be busted for violating a noise law, and we might then be subjected to the embarrassment of a perp walk (on a leash, of course).
So, we will be on our good behavior and not tress pass any Bayfield ordinances.  But it occurs to me that some folks might be happier somewhere else, like maybe Chicago, where everyone obeys every law, and all the pit bulls are safely chained in the front yard.
There may not be any posts for a few days, as we are traveling first to Stevens Point for an Urban Forestry Council meeting, and then on to our friends Bill and Allene Peebles Oconomowoc farm for our annual fall goose hunt.   Buddy doesn't get to goose hunt, but he will get plenty of off-leash exercise at the farm.

  1. You have misspelled "indicted," but I will let you off with a warning.
