NOT-SO-SCARY SCARECROWS ON NORTH SECOND STREET
Wednesday, 8:00 AM. 56 degrees F, wind SW, light. The sky is clear with no haze, and the Penoke Range is clearly visible. The humidity is down, at 61%, and the barometer is trending up, at 29.94". It should be a fine fall day, but unsettled weather may be in the offing for Apple Fest.
Buddy is a lot better, but I am still pretty gimpy. But there is work to be done so there will be no more complaining. We picked up the hay bales and the flower planters and baskets to decorate the truck for the Sunday's Apple Fest parade, but I still need to get the truck washed, and then there will be no boondocks driving until Applefest, which lasts this Friday through Monday, is over. Hopefully both Buddy and I will be back to normal by then.
It's scarecrow time again in Bayfield, and we are seeing some of the usual suspects and a few new entrants in the annual conteat, but it doesn't seem to have engendered the enthusiasm of some previous years. Not much to "crow" about. The scarecrow contest has been around about a decade, and I think it has lost its "Boo!".
Like the over-hyped and once dreaded government shutdown, we've seen it all before, and it just isn't very scary anymore. Boo!
