Monday, 9:00 AM. 50 degrees F, wind NW, moderate. The sky is clear, the humidity is 80% and the barometer is up, at 29.85". It is a gorgeous fall day.
The rain let up by the start of the Applefest Parade yesterday and thousands of people lined the route. It was an amazing parade, that lasted well over an hour; fourteen highschool bands, float after float, Ojibway drummers and dancers, the Pipes and Drums of Thunder Bay Canada, Queen Mary in her bathtub (I won't even try to explain that), local dignitaries, prom and festival royalty, hundreds of kids and thousands of apples...all followed by a mass band of all the high school bands marching down the parade route playing "On Wisconsin."
And it all went on in spite of the Federal Government Shutdown.
