ICE FISHING BEGINS, AND IT'S A BAD TIME TO BE A FATHER

ICE FISHING TENTS OFF BLACK HAWK MARINA

Friday,  9:00 AM.  0 degrees F, up from -4 earlier. Wind S, light with some occasional moderate gusts. The sky is overcast, which has helped to keep temperatures less severe.  Teh humidity is 73% and the barometer is trending down, currently at 30.11".  The low m\oving in from the south will bring warmer temperatures for the next day or so, then another cold front will move in.
   The snow covered ice just off shore of the Black Hawk Marina is evidently safe for ice fishing, but it looks like foot traffic only, as I saw no snowmobiles or all terrain vehicles out there yesterday.  The currents are tricky and the water deep just off the marina.  We don't need to start the new year with any deaths by drowning or hypothermia.
   Have you heard that the White House web site is calling America's Founding Fathers the Founding Founders?  This evidently in a fit of feminist political correctness.  Maybe Lincoln's Gettysburg Address should be changed to "Four score and seven years ago our fore-founders..."  Will the foolishness never cease?
   After all, if gender equality is the issue, there were plenty of "Founding Mothers," a few of the notables being Martha Washington, Abigail Adams and Dolly Madison (all true patriots in their own right), not to mention BetsyRoss; and a little research would doubtless identify many more.
   Of course, in a culture that celebrates mindless androgyny, the illogical and grammatically challenged term, "Founding Founders" will probably prevail.  It is a rather bad time to be a father.  Or a little boy.
