POW WOW

OFFICIAL FLAGS AND STAFFS
EVERYONE CAN DANCRE
TRADITIONAL REGALIA
REGALIA OPTIONAL
Tuesday, 7:30 AM.  Wind WNW, very light with stronger gusts.  The sky is overcast, the humidity 80%.  The barometer  is quite uncertain in its direction.  The sky is just now clearing enough for the sun to shine through the overcast.
Yesterday was a washout, literally.  It was mostly rainy, cold and windy.  But we had two good days out of three, and the weather was actually hot for a while on Sunday afternoon during the Red Cliff Pow Wow, which was held on the new Pow Wow grounds that were built last summer.  It has much better parking and a spacious structure for the drummers and dignitaries.  Daughter Eva and granddaughter Katy had never been to a Pow Wow and we all enjoyed it, although the weather was not conducive to much in the way of athletic dancing.
I have never been to a really big intertribal Pow Wow such as is held at larger venues, but would welcome the opportunity to attend.  I have always felt welcome at the many Pow Wows I have been to, both here and elsewhere.  American Indian communities are invariably welcoming and friendly to visitors,  but if there is a serious religious ceremony involved,  attendance may be limited to tribal members.
Our Denver family left early yesterday morning.  They are stopping on their way home at De Smet, SD, to visit the Laura Ingalls Wilder site there.  She was the author of the Little House On The Prairie and other popular books.
