3/06/11 SLIP-SLIDING

PARKED FULL ON FIRST STREET

ICE ROAD'S CLOSED BUT SO WHAT?

HOPE EVERYONE GOT OUT BEFORE IT FROZE BACK OVER
Sunday, 9:00 AM.  27 degrees, wind WSW, light.  The sky is mostly overcast but bright and trying to clear.  It will be a pleasant day.
Bayfield’s annual March Madness event started Friday with stores open for business in the early evening, and continued Saturday with a number of winter-oriented events, such as an ice fishing demonstration, activities at the Rec Center, outdoor dining around fire pits at the Bayfield Inn, and the event highlight, the Polar Plunge in the harbor. If the traffic and parking downtown were any indication, the weekend was a great success.  I saw lots of out of state license plates, mostly Minnesota and Michigan, but even a Texas plate (must have taken a wrong turn in Dallas on I35).  I am tired of winter so was a wet blanket, but not from the Polar Plunge.
According to the news, demonstrators have returned in force to the Capitol, where they were addressed by left-wing Hollywood mluti-millionaire Michael Moor, who compared Wisconsin to Egypt, and said, “Madison is only the beginning.” Of What, Michael?
He brought along a group of out-of-state protesters, who chanted “Who’s house? Our house!”  Oh, Really?
Meanwhile AWOL Milwaukee State Senator Lena Taylor met with Jesse Jackson in Chicago.   Jesse Who?
It appears that we are slip-sliding back to the 1960’s, which I for one am reluctant to live over, unless I miraculously become at least forty years younger in the process.
