THE SIXTY-FOUR DOLLAR QUESTION

THE CHANNEL ICE IS LOOKING ROTTEN; WHEN WILL IT GO OUT?
May Day,  8:30 AM.  39 degrees F, wind N, light with moderate gusts.  The sky is overcast, it is foggy and misting lightly.  The humidity is 95% and the barometer is steady, at 29.71".
Folks of a "certain age," as used to be said, will remember the popular radio game show of yesteryear, The Sixty-Four Dollar Question.  That was back in the day when a dollar was worth a dollar, Bub!
Anyway, the big question hereabouts now is, "When will the ice go out?"I am sure there is an office pool on the question somewhere, maybe up at the Casino.  So, I am herewith soliciting educated guesses from Almanac readers as to when the ice will disappear from the channel.  It is usually gone quite suddenly, seemingly instantaneously.  It will sink and disappear, or be blown out by a strong wind (and then obstinately migrate back in from the open lake).
A helpful hint for anyone interested in this bit of foolishness; some prior dates of ice-out can be gleaned by using the blog search engine.  For best results, be creative in phrasing your search questions.
Post your guess as a comment.  Unfortunately, there is no sixty-four dollar prize for the winner.
