Wednesday, 8:30 AM. 43.5 degrees, up from 34 degrees at 7:00 AM. Wind SSW, calm at present. The morning is sunny and filled with birdsong, and the barometer predicts partly cloudy skies. A gorgeous day, which I will partly spend planting pansies in the herb garden.
The city boat launch is being upgraded and the environs are all torn up. It looks to me like much more of a project than anticipated. I can’t imagine what is being done so will have to look into it and report back.
I am becoming rather disgusted with the persistent calls for releasing the photos of the dead bin Laden. If we killed him he will no longer be issuing taunting videos and audios. If we didn’t, he will. If some don’t believe his demise, grisly photos won’t change their minds, and he will be perceived a martyr by many in any case. I think the media just wants more sensational detail to report. It’s like the Roman circuses out there. If we really wanted to assuage the blood lust of the media and its masses, why didn’t we just stick bin Laden’s head on a fence post in front of the White House, or better yet, round up a few Muslims and feed them to the lions in Yankee Stadium? As Senator Foghorn would say, “That’s a joke, son.”
