Saturday, 10:00 AM. 20 degrees, wind S, light to moderate. The sky is mostly cloudy and the barometer predicts the same.
Andy and Judy just left, going south to try to beat the storm that is predicted for the central part of the state.
We had a nice visit, and their dog J.D. and Lucky hardly had any arguments over the beef bones from last night’s osso buco dinner. We were brought up to date about their son Erick’s South Pole adventure, the estimate being that the party has probably reached the pole where they were to be picked up by airplane and flown back to the base camp on the Ronne Ice Shelf, which is on the Atlantic side of the continent. More info is available at Adventure Network.com. The trip on skis one way to the pole was 580 miles.
I saw the smaller wind sled come across from La Pointe earlier, and the big sled will probably be in operation after the ice thickens some more ( that would be my preferred mode of travel for an Antarctic adventure) Now it’s off to the recycle center to get rid of all the holiday boxes, cans and bottles.
