5/18/10 RIGHT ON TIME AGAIN THIS YEAR

ANOTHER FINE SPRING DAY
LUPINES WILL BLOOM SOON
A YOUNG ASPEN READY TO SHED ITS SEED

Tuesday, 7:30 AM. Wind WNW, calm. The sky is cloudless, the channel glassy, but the barometer predicts rain. It is a fine spring day.
The source of all the cottony seeds along the roads and blown into open garages and corners of porches are the various poplars, that pictured being a very young aspen, about to cast its progeny to the winds.
The next big event of Bayfield in Bloom will be the blooming of the lupines, the one pictured being in a very sunny corner of the yard, but all should bloom within a week or so. “When will the lupines bloom?” is the perennial question, and the answer is, “between the middle and end of May.” Within those parameters they are right on time again this year
