7/16/10 OREGANO AND SOLOMON'S SEAL

A STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL DAY
A PATCH OF HARDY OREGANO
OREGANO FLOWER
SOLOMON'S SEAL BERRIES

Friday, 8:00 AM. 70 degrees, wind NW, moderate. The sky is clear with some haze over the channel. The barometer predicts partly clody skies. It is a stunningly beautiful day.
The escaped hardy garden oregano (Origanum vulgare) in vacant lots and other places is in bloom, often n large masses. It is used fresh or dried in cooking, although it may not have as strong a flavor as some of its varieties. It is fragrant when walked upon. The false Solomon’s seal (Smilacina racemosa) berries are ripening, hanging heavily and bending the stems to the ground.
