10/04/10 A GREAT PARADE AND BACK TO WORK

OUR FLOAT
COME BACK NEXT SPRING!
ART, JOAN AND LUCKY
TOM, JOAN AND BARB

Monday, 8:00 AM. 38 degrees, wind W, calm. It is cloudless and the barometer predicts partly cloudy skies. It looks like a “perfect ten” day.
It was a fine parade, and lasted an hour and a half. There were the usual high school bands, the Thunder Bay pipes and drums, the Red Cliff dancers and drummers. And plenty of old cars. Mary was in her bathtub atop the rhinestone Cadillac. Being in the parade I didn’t see much of it, but every one was having fun and the crowds were tremendous. Joan, Lucky and I rode in our Bayfield in Bloom float truck and waved to our friends and neighbors. Tom and Barb had great seats behind the Baptist church and took lots of photos, which unfortunately somehow did not transfer to my computer (maybe they would post some of their photos in the Comments). It took hours for visitors to come and go, with lines of cars all the way to Ashland and beyond. By tonight everything will be cleaned up and back in order as though nothing had happened.
Now it’s time for me to get back to work and plant 7,000 daffodils.
