5/01/10 GRATITUDE

MORNING AFTER THE STORM
THANKFUL FOR EVERY DROP
JACK PINE CONES BURSTING WITH POLLEN
OLD JACK PINE CONES

Saturday, 7:30 AM. 51 degrees, wind SW, calm. Steam is rising from the glassy surface of the channel, and the sky is perfectly clear, even though the barometer still predicts rain. We had a thunderstorm last night which left .25” of rain in the glass, not much but the earth is grateful for it, and the morning air tingles with ozone.
The new cones of the jack pine on the south side of the house are bursting with pollen, even as old cones still clasp its branches.
