HANGING BASKETS AND HUMMINGBIRD FEEDER
Wednesday, 7:30 AM. 43 degrees, wind NE, light with periodic stronger gusts right off the lake. The channel looks dark and threatening and the barometer predicts rain.
On Sunday we bought hanging baskets for the porch, they were very reasonable, perhaps due to their quirky color combinations of red and purple, but we liked them. At some point I will transfer them to larger wire baskets and add some additional plants.
More to the point, I put the hummingbird feeder out Sunday, and Joan said she saw one yesterday. They are not quite as predictable as the swallows of Capistrano, but they usually arrive at our feeder between May the 12th and the15th. I really do believe that they send a scout ahead of the main flock, and that means they should arrive any day now unless the report was that it was still winter in Bayfield.
