A BROAD BAND OF BLUE SKY OVER THE OPEN LAKE
FIRST APPLE TREE BUDS
EARLY FLOWERING CRAB BLOSSOMS
AN EARLY FLOWERING CRABAPPLE
7:15 AM. 44 degrees, wind W, calm to very light. The sky is mostly cloudy except for a broad band of blue over the open lake. The barometer predicts much the same.
I mowed the lawn for the first time yesterday, and it now needs some major attention, as it is very thin and weedy because of the drought.
An old apple tree on 9th St. is in full bud, and a neighbor’s flowering crab is in bloom. Both a little early, but probably within normal parameters. I hope we have good weather and blossoms for the Bayfield in Bloom kickoff and the Garden Talk radio show on Friday, May 14th (11:00 AM CDT). If you can get Wisconsin Public Radio live or streaming on the internet tune in, it is usually interesting and fun. I think this will be the 6th spring I have been on the program, and they evidently haven’t tired of me yet.
