A WAITING GAME

SIOUX RIVER RAPIDS ABOVE "THE BIG ROCK"
Tuesday,  7:45 AM.  56 degrees F at the ferry dock, 42 on the back porch.  Wind SW, calm with occasional light gusts.  The sky is overcast, the humidity 79%.  The barometer is virtually steady, now standing at 30.09".  It should be a nice day, even though cloudy and overcast.
Life has to get back to normal quickly today, as Daughter-In-Law Leslie and Granddaughter Allison have left for the Minneapolis airport to go back to Texas.  Joan and I am on our own,  and, I have a landscape job to supervise this morning (no lifting or over-exertion).  So, no more laying around pretending to be invalids, and having someone to fetch and carry for the old folks.
Yesterday we stopped by the "Big Rock" on the Sioux River to see if the fish were running up the rapids or were still pooled below.  It is quite a site to see them attempt to swim up the rock and rapids and we were anxious to have Allison see them do so..  No such luck.
We determined that the river is too shallow for the fish to swim up and that they are waiting for a rain and higher water, or possibly some other environmental trigger that we are unaware of.
But, for now, it is a waiting game.
