LOTS OF LUCK

BROWN TROUT AND SALMON IN THE POOL BELOW THE "BIG ROCK ON THE SIOUX RIVER"...

...WAITING TO RUN UP THE RAPIDS TO SPAWN...

...SO MANY BIG FISH THEY CREATE A LARGE DARK SPOT IN THE WATER
Sunday,  9:00 AM.  47 degrees F at the ferry dock, 42 on the back porch.  Wind WSW, calm with light gusts.  The sky is clear, the humidity 84%.  The barometer continues its slow downward slide, now standing at 30.32" and falling.
Not only is it Applefest, but it is Blessing of the Animals at Christ Church, so we all, including Buddy, are going (All God's Creatures, Great and Small, God Bless Them All).
While so many tourists are in Bayfield for Applefest, Daughter-In-Law Leslie and I went to Ashland, and on the way back stopped to see if the brown trout and steelhead salmon were congregating in the refuge pool beneath the "Big Rock On The Sioux."  They sure were, hundreds of them, waiting for whatever triggers their making a run for it up the river to spawn, probably another rainfall.
There were a lot of cars and trucks parked along the river, their occupants down at the stream trying to catch a legal-sized fish.  It is a lot harder to do than one might assume, as the spawning fish do not take the bait readily, and the minimum legal size-limit for a steelhead is 25.5".
   Lots of luck.
