8/02/10 RAIN AND RIPE TOMATOES

THE MORNING AFTER
THE NIGHT BEFORE
RIPE TOMATOES
A CONVERSATION PIECE
Monday, 8:30 AM. 68 degrees, wind W, calm. The sky has a few puffy white clouds and the atmosphere is clear after last night’s torrential rains that left 3” in the gage. Neighbors Erick and Nancy and his sister Daniel visiting from France were over for dinner and got home just before the deluge hit, as did Garden View guests who were kayaking.
The hanging basket tomato plant on the porch has three ripe tomatoes and a dozen little green fruits. The concept certainly works but is more of a conversation piece than a really practical way of growing tomatoes. But, it is fun.
