6/07/11 NEW BLOOMS, CLOUDS OF POLLEN AND AN EXPENSIVE HEADLAMP

VIBURNUM FLOWER

JACK PINE POLLEN CONE

NEW SEED CONE, CLOSED

OLD SEED CONE, OPEN

CLOUD OF POLLEN
Tuesday, 8:00 AM.  56 degrees, wind WSW, light.  The sky is hazy and partly overcast, and the barometer predicts ran, which we got about of a third of an inch of last night.  Our Texas contingent arrived last night so we have a full house.  Daughter Greta in Columbus could not make it, she has other commitments. Hopefully the day will clear enough for the kids to go to the beach.
The mountain ash tree on the south side of the house is  now in full bloom,  as is the Viburnum lantana in the front yard.  The Jack pine, Pinus banksiana, is shedding pollen in great clouds with the slightest breeze, and  it gives me a stuffy nose.
Joan had a headlamp replaced on the Saab, it cost $15.  Have you heard about the Toyota Prius head lamps?  If a bulb burns out, which they evidently do with some regularity, the new bulb costs $350, and it costs $350 or more to install, because the front bumper has to be dismantled to do it.  $1,600 for the pair, and no recall in sight. Takes a while to make that up in gasoline savings.
