HUGE HORSE CHESTNUT
...LARGE PALMATELY COMPOUND LEAVES
...LARGE SPIKES OF FLOWERS
Lupines are beginning to assert themselves, their multi-colored spikes of flowers appearing everywhere now.
The huge old horse chestnut pictured, Aesculus hippocastanum, an introduction from Eurasia long used as an ornamental, is in full bloom in an alleyway between south Sixth and Seventh streets. Very beautiful in bloom, but they reach enormous size.
The grandchildren are having a good time, and we are all going to ride the Duluth Pizza Train this evening.
