SUMAC LEAVES ARE BEGINNING TO TURN |
WHAT'S THIS?... |
...A DEADLY AMANITA MUSHROOM |
Sunday, 7:30 AM. 61 degrees F at the ferry dock, 56 on the back porch. Wind SW, calm with light gusts. The sky is mostly clear, with some haze. The humidity is 86%, the barometetr 30.05" and falling, predicting rain by Monday night. It is a quiet morning for a Labor Day weekend, although there are a lot of people in town.
Fall is almost here, and sumac and red maple leaves are beginning to turn, and mushrooms like this poisonous Amanita muscaria (I think that's correct) are starting to emerge; some will be as large as dinner plates. Fall color will begin in earnest after Labor Day.
Our humming birds will likely leave for sunnier climes within a week.
